#4: A surfer’s diary — Musings on living a year in Cornwall, an upcoming triathlon & fundraising.

BBC Radio Cornwall is on, I just baked three trays of granola, I’m cooking my first ever stew. The chicken isn’t succulent yet. The weather has turned. I think it actually did yesterday. It was the first day where I have seen the ocean calm again, after all the winter swells. Like no waves. And warm air. April 16 now, so that’s about right.

Am I switching to some classical music, or will I keep my attention on the writing when the man on the radio announces the next song, or takes a moment to bring ‘an interesting random fact’? I’ll bear it for now. The stew needs to stand for at least three hours, after which I will get changed for some biking, and running. My midweek day off seems to suit well with, what in triathlon jargon is called a ‘brick workout’. It’s when you connect the disciplines. An hour on the bike, followed by half an hour of running.

Changing the music. My Post Surf Vibes playlist on Spotify. Editing my text slightly, searching for focus again. Not sure if I really want to spend too much time on writing about my ‘musings’ on living for a year in Cornwall. Yeah OK, I have done it alright. And with quite a ‘competitive’ rent for a man on his own, but a steady job, discipline, and good habits learned in years of living on my own, I can say I am doing alright. Read the entire post on medium.

Some late afternoon bike training, with the sun setting in the bay of the town I have lived in for over a year now.
